Oh my goodness guys HAPPY SUMMER! Whoop Whoop. I know all of us college students have all been out for sometime now. My last day of classes was April 29th… So needless to say I have been out for hot second but it for sure does not feel like that being here in Peru. In between the time of my last day of class and coming to Peru I moved out of my sorority house into an apartment, packed things from Houston, drove home, said my goodbyes, finished packing and took off for my adventure here in Cusco!
While in Cusco I go to school everyday and take two classes from the university here and then also take an online accounting class through UH. I am swamped during the weeks with presentations, homework, exams and papers. But, my weekends are packed full of adventure and exploring so it’s a nice balance. My study abroad journey ends this Friday and then after that my summer will begin! Kind of funny to think my summer has not started yet but with all this school it doesn’t feel like summer yet for me.
The rest of my summer I have decided not to waste away in bed watching Netflix (even though I know that will happen a couple times). I have decided to make this the summer of ME! Sounds kind of cliché right? But no it’s not. Since today is the first day of summer everyone should make a pack to themselves to do what they want to do. Yes, I know some of you do not want to go to work and I’m sorry if you can not quit your job but you can still make time for you. Take a weekend and drive somewhere and have fun. If you are in Texas take a trip to San Marcos and float the river, drive to Arlington see a Rangers game and hit up Six Flags, go to Houston and get some amazing food to eat and go shopping. There are so many things you can do to have “you” time. Even if it is staying at home and pampering yourself. There’s nothing better than a hot bath, with a lush bath bomb and your computer right next to the bathtub watching a good show.
Everyone has the opportunity to make this the best summer yet. If you are like me and going into your senior year of college, this could be your last time to just do what you want to do all summer. So wasting your days away laying in bed watching Netflix could be nice but getting out and doing things could be even greater. There are also a ton of things you can do for free so check around your city and see what is going on. This summer of you doesn’t mean you have to spend a ton of money. This summer just means you are doing things to better yourself, experience some culture and have fun.
I for one this summer will be decorating my new apartment, going to visit my best friend in Austin, visiting my family and old co-workers in San Antonio, going to Maui for a week, taking my 21st birthday trip to NOLA all while working during the week as a nanny! Yes, this is about to be a jammed packed summer when I get back but for me, it’s doing what I want to do. Making memories with my friends and family before my senior year, before I start the rest of my adult life. I hope y’all can do the same and take some “you” time in between your busy working schedule. If you need any help with more “you” time ideas I am full of them so feel free to reach out 🙂
