Okay, wow! If you actually made it through all those pictures I am very proud of you. LOL. Trust me there are at least 300 more I spared you from seeing hahaha. But, I couldn’t cut anymore out… first, I am very proud of my room and second, I am obsessed with taking pictures of objects now. Like it makes me so happy to take pictures of everything I can. I love setting up different scenes and making the picture just right. But, that’s not why you are here, to listen to me rant on! You are here to hear about my room!
I definitely could not wait to decorate my room in my first apartment. My freshman year I lived in a dorm and my sophomore and junior year I lived in my sorority house! While I had some of my own space I could only be sooo creative. But, coming to my apartment and having my own room for the first time in my entire life I went all out. I really wanted my room to be clean-lined, sophisticated and simple.
In my dorm, I had a busy printed Vera Bradley bedspread and in my sorority house I went again with a busy printed Lilly Pulitzer bedspread. So, I knew for my new room I wanted to do the complete opposite! I found this super sweet and simple duvet cover at Target in the Shabby Chic collection. I knew something else I wanted to have on my bed was a ton of pillows so I ordered about four different ones on Target.com when they came in I saw what I liked then went to the store to return some and buy more of others!
One of the pillows that came from the online Target order was my white fluffy pillow. I fell in love with it and I knew I wanted more than two on my bed. I had no idea how I was going to incorporate them on my bed. So, when I was in Target I set out to make the fluffy pillow work! I first came across the cactus pillow and about died. Because how perfect is that??? I have cactus pictures and a matching cactus pillow!? How could that get any better? Yeah, it can’t! Then I came across the huge black pom pom pillows! The Target I was at only had two so I bought them up and went home to figure it out. I got home and put my new pillows on my bed. I knew I wanted a third pom pom pillow and I also needed to break up the black and white and incorporate some gray to match the blanket I wanted to put on the end of the bed. So, after seeing everything I jumped onto Target.com again to get the third pom pom pillow, gray pillows and the black and white lumbar one.
I had seen some double cactus pictures hung on walls before so I set out to do something similar. All the framed cactus pictures I found were beyond expensive and since I’m a broke college student I definitely couldn’t do that. So, I did them myself! I went on Etsy and bought the pictures, then I got them printed at Costco and then bought the frames at IKEA!!! And that’s how you ball on a budget LOL. They look expensive and professional to me so I am very proud of them.
My side tables are also from IKEA along with the lamps! I saw some really cute gold lamps at Target but they were like $40 each. I was going to save up for them but then I found these at IKEA for like $15 a piece. Again, what a steal… ballin on a budget. The little fake succulents are from the dollar section at target and the white frame is from Target and the black on is Marshall’s. Also, yes that is a full functioning clock and my friend make fun of me all the time for using it as an alarm clock instead of my phone hahah.
Now onto my cute little dresser! My mom actually made my dresser! She bought it and restored it to what it is now! It fits perfectly in the space and I love it so much. On top of the dresser I always have to have fresh flowers. Hehe, you can notice in the pics above I shot on two different days because I have two different bundles of fresh flowers. But anyways I always pick up fresh flowers for myself at any grocery store I am at that week! The bigger candle is “leaves” from Bath & Body Works and the pumpkin candle was a gift from my boss when I was having a bad day! The picture frame on the left is from Marshall’s and the picture frame on the right is from IKEA and I spray painted it gold! The “C” on the dresser was also a gift from my aunt! Last but not least my beloved jewelry holder is a couple years old but can still sometimes be found at Marshall’s.
Then next to the dress I have a huge OOTD mirror. My mirror was literally one of the first things I purchased along with my mattress hahah. I knew I just needed a huge OOTD mirror and I knew I was going to get it! I started looking at them months in advance and they are just so dang expensive but not to worry IKEA held it down with this on for only $99.
On the opposite corner from my mirror I have my cute little “reading corner”… I have yet to read there but I will soon hahaha. My mom found a set of these two chairs and had then reupholstered for me! The matching one is in our living room and I can’t wait to have these for the rest of my life LOL. I literally love how cute they are! The pillow on the chair is from Target along with the blanket basket too. Two of the blankets in the basket were gifts and the white and gray one I bought this summer while studying abroad in Peru. I also knew I needed to fill the space above my chair so I put up my favorite shelves! I had these in my sorority house as well and I love them! They are of course from IKEA and they are filled with all different things that make me happy! Pictures of my friends and flowers! haha. Most the picture frames are from Marshall’s.
OMG now the moment you all have been waiting for…. JK you haven’t been waiting but I have been waiting to share hahah. My desk!!!! My mom again being the wonderful amazing person that she is found this desk and completely redid it for me. I believe this is the first piece she purchased so from day one I knew I was going to have this massive desk that just made me feel important! The clear acrylic chair is from Amazon and I actually love it! It is surprising comfortable and is perfect with the desk because it doesn’t take away from the beauty of the desk. My black monogram was purchased on Etsy and spray painted by me! On the left of the desk I have the cutest little terrarium that I put Alex and Ani bracelets in, instead of a succulent that I would just end up killing anyways haha. The candle was again a gift from my boss but she got it at Anthropologie. Since its fall I of course have to have pumpkins on my desk! All of them again are surprising from Target hehe! On the right side of my desk my picture frame and pen holder are from Target and my amazing grace wooden block was a gift!
I hope you enjoyed looking through the pictures and reading about my room! It is absolutely my most favorite place to be in all of Houston. I worked so hard on it and I am still working on it every day! I actually enjoy making my bed every morning because I love how it makes the whole room filled put together! If you’d like to see a bathroom or apartment overview let me know and I can start working on them! Have a great weekend loves!
