This past to say the least was beyond awesome! I had such a great time in Austin and San Antonio. Who knew a weekend away could be so relaxing and much needed even though I was so busy. I got to visit my best friend Lauren and then my other friend Bonnie showed up and surprised me for a belated birthday party. Then I went to San Antonio to stay with my aunt and celebrate my cousin’s birthday with a surprise party.
I drove up Thursday after I got off work. When I got there, Lauren and her boyfriend, Matt, and I went out to dinner. We went to this hole in the wall Mexican place. It was actually pretty good and the service was incredible. We got queso to share and then I got enchiladas and a strawberry mango margarita. After dinner, we went home and I helped Lauren on a project for her internship!
Friday, I woke up got ready and went to The Domain, this hip new shopping center in Austin. There I met Lauren on her lunch break at Flower Child. This restaurant was so adorable and trendy with delicious, healthy food. I got a cobb salad and Lauren had avocado toast. To drink we both had rose lemonade, it was such the perfect sweet and tart summer drink. After lunch, I of course had to hit up the Nordstrom sale! I found the deals ever at the sale and was so happy with all my purchases.
When I got home Lauren and I went to another Mexican restaurant for dinner! After that we were driving home and one of her friends invited us to go somewhere and I wanted to go! Lauren made up a lame excuse that she had to go home and feed the cat. I thought it was a really weird response. When I get home, I walked in the house and I see black 21 number balloons tied to champagne! I also heard “surprise” and someone running towards me! Lauren had Bonnie come surprise me for my birthday! It was so sweet and special. We got ready and then went out to 6th street. Honestly, 6th street was so much fun and I cannot wait to go back there again!
Saturday, Bonnie, Lauren and I went to brunch at the South Congress Café. It was okay they got my order wrong but ended up comping my meal so I can’t complain! LOL. After sadly saying goodbye to my bestie and Bonnie, I left for San Antonio. But, I of course couldn’t make it there without stopping at the san Marcos outlets. I was good and only went into Lululemon! I was also good and only bought one cute pair of shorts and a tank top!
I then drove straight to my cousin’s house and started helping my aunt set up for her surprise party. The party went well and Kelley was so surprised! She literally had no idea! We stayed there for a while and then finally went home to my aunt’s house for the night. Sunday my grandparents adn aunt got up and went to church. After that my grandparents left to drive back to Arlington and my aunt and I went to eat downtown to grab lunch.
Lunch at Rosario’s was so yummy and it was so nice spending time with my aunt. I sadly had to say goodbye to her too. After leaving her house I went to my friends Micha’s house! Micha and I worked together at the JW Marriott in San Antonio last summer! She is working there again this summer so it was so nice to see her and catch up.
Monday morning I woke up and went and visited my old stomping ground at the JW. Literally all my old coworkers were there and it was so nice to see them all again! I enjoyed my time there and I had Micha serve me lunch! She recommended the chicken quesadillas and they were so good! After lunch I got back in my car and headed back to Houston.
My weekend was perfect and I am so thankful that I got to see all my friends and family! I cannot wait until my next visit to the hill county. It will have to be soon because I already miss everyone again 🙁

Today in this summer of me post I wanted to shortly talk about failures or more like I like to call them setbacks. They can be hard at first but I believe everything happens for a reason. A setback could be anything from not getting a job you wanted to not getting the grade you wanted on a test. Any of these can be hard but that’s okay because “success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently.” Next time you don’t get the grade you wanted on a test, keep trying! If you work harder you can do better on the next test. If you don’t get the job you want, look at your resume and see what you can approve upon or work on your interviewing skills. There is so many things you can do to improve upon yourself and make yourself better.
“Nevertheless, she persisted” is another one of my favorite quotes that goes along with everything I am talking about right now. If you stick with something you can achieve it! I love all of you. Hope everyone had a great hump day! We are almost to the weekend!!
xoxo, Cass
