Traveling on long flights or even short flights for that matter used to be the vain of my existence. My carry on used to be filled exclusively with coloring books, sudoku, candy, my iPad, and books just so I could have something to do. I also lived in fear that I would not get the aisle seat because I always have to pee 24/7. It gave me anxiety to ask people to get up so I could use the restroom. But now after many years of flying I have mastered sleeping through the whole flight and holding my pee LOL. I also picked up some quick tips along the way to help our bodies and skin still be their best while in air.
First you must hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!! The day before you go on the plane please be more conscious to drink water. Yes, I know a lot of people say this or you think this is stupid but it is imperative. Your skin will thank you and your bladder will too. I personally try not to drink at least two hours before my flight because I do not wish to get up and pee every second. So drinking water the day before will help make sure your skin stays hydrated and your throat stays moist and you are not yearning to drink something and then have to use the restroom. If, however you are one of those people that needs to drink water every thirty minutes, I recommend bringing an empty water bottle in your carry on. Nothing gives me anxiety more than when I feel I have to finish a drink on the flight so it doesn’t sit on my tray table and spill while I fall back to sleep.
Now that we have our insides hydrated we need to talk about our outsides! Lol. I know you are going to fight me on this one but you must take off your makeup for a flight. Makeup, even if it says “moisturizing” or “hydrating”, is still not good for your skin in flight. Flights take such a toll on your skin because the air on board is so drying and sucks all the life out of it. So to help keep your skin glowing and beautiful you must take your makeup off before a flight. I know that can sound terrifying, I myself don’t like going in public without makeup. But, for the sake of your skin just do it. When I have an afternoon or nighttime flight I like to pack makeup remover wipes in my carry on on because chances are I already have makeup on from the day. I am so crazy busy running around before a flight I do not have time to take it off at home. But that’s okay because after you get through security just run to the restroom and wipe it off. Then don’t forget to apply a moisturizer. A nighttime or heavy moisturizer is best for flight but any moisturizer will do. One pro tip is that Sephora gives out free samples on anything. So next time you are in there ask for a sample on a really nice expensive ultra hydrating moisturizer and throw it in your carry on. Then once you use it you can throw the container away and you don’t have to worry about taking your current moisturizer through the dreaded TSA security.
So now we are hydrated inside and out, but Cass how do we sleep on an airplane? Well now that you ask… just close your eyes and count sheep. LOL JK. First I like to schedule my flights first thing in the morning or last thing at night if possible. If your flight is the first thing in the morning you most likely will stay up late packing and either get no sleep or very little, then you will be tired enough to sleep on the plane. Same thing with at night. You’ll be up all day running errands and packing that you’ll be ready to crash the second you get on the plane. If you are not fortunate enough to get a morning or night flight make sure you have the necessary items to be comfortable enough to fall asleep. First, you must get a neck pillow (yes, I am serious I swear by these). Second, make sure to bring your favorite eye mask with you. Third, book the window seat. Last but not least calm your mind and body. We are always running a hundred miles a minute and if you tell yourself that the airplane is your rest time your body will know what to do. The neck pillow will make you feel comfortable. Your eye mask will keep out the light and set the tone for your body to sleep. The window seat is perfect to lean up against and no one will bother you to get up so they can go to the restroom. And your nice calm mind will fall deep asleep once you recline that chair and breath.
If you have any other specific travel tips, I got you. Feel free to reach out, I am always here to help you the best I can! Love you guys.
xoxo, Cass
Does it matter how many liquids I take in my checked baggage? I know that I am limited on my carry on, but I was planning on taking full sized bottles in my checked baggage.
No, it does not matter how much you take in your checked bag! Just make sure to put them in a ziplock bag in case they leak! Don't want your clothes getting ruined! Safe travels!
